How do I know which checking account is right for me?
We have several options and our bankers will work with you to determine the one that will best suit your needs. Some of the factors to consider include how you’ll be using the account (i.e., direct deposit, debit cards), average balance you anticipate keeping in the account and other accounts you’ll have with us. We’d be happy to discuss your options and welcome your phone call or visit to our office.
How much do I need to open an account?
Some of our accounts have minimum balances to avoid monthly charges. So if you want to avoid those fees, you’ll need to have this amount at account opening. Otherwise, we’d like you to have at least $50 to open a checking account and $200 for a savings account.
What kind of Overdraft Protection do you offer?
Overdraft protection is recommended on all of our checking accounts. It works as a safety net in case a mistake or error occurs on your account. At First National Bank Fox Valley, we offer two choices for overdraft protection. One uses the balance in your savings account to cover the negative balance in your checking account. The second choice is with our Personal Reserve Account (PRA). This is a separate line of credit that is subjected to underwriting guidelines and is used solely as overdraft protection. It is best to discuss these options with our bankers to determine the most appropriate choice for your situation.
Can I get my account balances over the telephone?
We offer a toll-free, automated system to give you account information. You can find out balances, review activity and can even transfer funds between your accounts. The telephone number is 888-750-3155.
Is Direct Deposit safe?
Yes, direct deposit is a safe and effective way to have deposits made to your account. The funds are automatically deposited into your account, thereby eliminating a trip to the bank. Also, you don’t need to worry about losing your check or if you are away on payday. The deposit will be in your account automatically and account information is handled in a secure manner.
What’s the difference between an ATM card and a Debit card?
Both the ATM card and a debit card allow you to access the funds in your account. The ATM card is primarily used for cash withdrawals at cash machines and a few merchants are now allowing point-of-sale purchases. Your debit card is similar, with more uses. In addition to getting cash at a machine or bank, you can also use it instead of a check when making a purchase. It is handy for making hotel reservations and placing order online or over the telephone. Anytime you use either card, make sure you keep your receipt to record the transaction in your register.
